A Blonde Ambition

I’ve been dying my hair for as long as I can remember. I think at age 11 I managed to convince my mum to let me put a semi-permanent colour on my hair and since then I haven’t stopped. I went through phases of changing my hair colour dramatically until I went bright red and stayed that way for 2 years. I was then known for my red hair, it was my identity for a very long time. Then one day I decided I needed a change and decided to strip my hair with one of those colour B4 things, and then it turned a lovely bright orange colour due to years of dying it red and staining my hair.

My new plan was to try and get it brown, putting box dye after box dye on top of my orange hair, but still it was looking rather ginger. After months of trying out this process I decided to admit defeat and visit a hairdresser. I’ve never had my hair dyed at a hair dressers as its usually a small fortune, but I found a friend of a friend who does it inside her home at reasonable prices so off I went. I originally just wanted to get the brassy gingerness out of my hair and go a bit lighter, but after a couple of visits this eventually turned into me going blonde.

I haven’t had blonde hair since I was 18 so it’s a nice change to be this light again, but I’m thinking of going a little darker on my next visit, and probably put a few more brown shades through it. Regardless I’m enjoying the change.
