Current Everyday ‘Go to’ Face

I keep finding myself sticking to a makeup routine. Despite the fact I have many products sitting in my Muji drawers I often find myself reaching for the same products day after day. I try to sometimes mix around the products I go for, but sometimes it’s nice to have a routine that only takes you five minutes to apply. Especially if sleep is precious to you, and you have a busy day ahead, it’s nice to get your makeup routine applied quickly so you don’t have the hassle of trying to faff around with it all.

I start out with my current favourite base, Helen E cosmetics Stage Matte Mousse in the shade Monroe. I’d never heard of Helen E cosmetics until recently at the #JulyLondonMeetUp where we were lucky enough to receive this in the goody bags. It reminds me of the days I used to wear the Maybelline dream matte mousse, and in fact the formula feels pretty much the same. The coverage works really well for me and it seems to last all day, so I think I’m on to a winner here. I then use my trusty favourite Collection 2000 concealer, which is raved about all over the blogosphere so I’m sure this is no news! I then like to set my foundation with powder, I tend to use anything that I have on the go, which is currently my Natural Collection pressed powder. It’s not the most of amazing powders, but for £1.99 it does the job.

Once I’m finished with my bases I work on my eyebrows. Currently I’m using my HD Brows palette in the shade Foxy which I got in the goody bags from the #LDBBMeet. I’ve only discovered filling in my eyebrows in the past year or so and I’ve seen such a difference since I have. I don’t go too extreme on colouring them in, but it’s nice to make them a little bolder. I then use an eyeliner in my waterline, which currently I’m using a Model Co black eyeliner which I believe was a magazine freebie somewhere along the line. Then I go for some mascara, and the one I’ve been reaching for recently is another #JulyLondonMeetUp freebie, Benefit They’re Real! There was quite some excitement when this was spotted in the goody bags, and I can see why. It just does some amazing things to my lashes! I can see this sticking around to be a firm favourite. I then move on to a highlighter, the current go to one being Benefit’s Sun Beam, which is perfect during the summer to give your skin a sun-kissed glow. And on the apples of my cheeks I apply First Date Blush from Famous in the shade Keria, and then finish off my makeup with the Make Believe Enhance Shimmer Lip Gloss*.

I’ve got this routine down to a fine art now, only taking me a matter of minutes. In future I might have a swap around of my makeup but currently I’m pretty happy with my new found routine!
