When me and mum went on our recent weekend away to Manchester, after a long day at the Coronation Street Tour we decided we very much needed cocktails. I mean it’s not a girl’s weekend away without cocktails right? Someone had recommended The Alchemist to my mum saying their cocktails were pretty amazing. After a quick search we found it was only around the corner from where we were staying, so of course we had to give it a visit for some pre-dinner cocktails.
The Alchemist also has a restaurant as well as bar, but we already had plans for dinner elsewhere so just popped in for a few drinks. For the first cocktail of the night my mum chose a Kir Royale, which was made by adding ‘some magic’, so that the prosecco slowly changed to the colour you can see in the photograph, which was pretty fun to watch. I picked the Flavour Changing One, because I was really curious how a drink could change flavour. It started as apple and raspberry, and slowly changed to a minty taste, and then back again. HOW?!
After being amazed by the first drink we had to have a second one. This time I chose a Cinnamon Apple cocktail, which was deliciously gingerbready and cinnamony, which would be the perfect Christmas cocktail. Feeling a bit more adventurous my mum picked the Colour Changing One, which kept slowly changing from pink to purple. By this point the cocktails had gone to our head a little, so we were quite amazed by this.
There’s so many cocktails available on the menu, I wish I could have had a chance to try them all. It was also great fun sitting at the bar and watching the bar staff make some of the more interesting drinks!
Have you been to The Alchemist before? What interesting drinks did you get?
If you’ve been following me on my social accounts lately you might have seen that I’m on bit of a weightloss mission. My weight has been something that’s been an issue for me for a long time now. When I was a teenager I gained a lot of weight, mostly through making poor choices, and…
I’m the sort of person who has a huge sweet tooth. I love anything that’s sweet, especially puddings. One of my favourite desserts is Creme Brulee, whenever I’m out for dinner and see this on the menu I just can’t help myself. I always thought they were pretty complicated to make so I’ve never tried…
From today it’s only 35 days until Christmas, doesn’t that seem crazy? I’m sure everyone’s saying it, but I can’t believe just how quickly it’s coming around. In my last Christmas gift guide I spoke about a few gift ideas for her, but something else you should consider for Christmas is foodie gifts. Not only do…
At the weekend I went to stay in London as an early birthday treat from my parents. While my dad had uni on the Saturday, my mum said she’d take me to see anything I wanted to see while we were there, I chose a visit to Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium. Mum really couldn’t understand…
Like many people, some of my new years resolutions are to be a bit healthier and something I’m terrible at is not drinking enough water. I spend most of my days drinking endless cups of tea and diet coke, but never enough water meaning I’m probably actually quite dehydrated. I’m trying to get back into…
It’s no secret that I’m a Lush addict, you only have to look through this blog and you’ll see it mentioned thousands of times. I can’t get enough of their bath bombs, and I constantly have a ‘Lush stash’ tucked away in my bathroom. My friends have even joked that I’m an expert, and often…
