NOTD – Festive Nails


With all the days getting darker quickly, and the nights getting colder, it only means one thing – It’s nearly Christmas! So for today’s NOTD post I decided on doing some festive nails as I’m finally getting into the Christmas spirit. On a recent trip to Superdrug I picked up some of the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polishes as I’ve heard good things about them. I decided to pick up the shades ‘Watermelon’ and ‘Plum’ and if you spend £6 or more on Barry M you got this free limited edition Barry M glitter polish. I couldn’t resist as I decided I needed this glitter polish in my life as I haven’t seen anything quite like this before. And annoyingly you couldn’t buy it on its own, so I had to buy the two other nail varnishes (that’s my reason and I’m sticking to it!). I decided to try out the ‘Watermelon’ shade first, which is this gorgeous dark green colour, perfect for this time of the year. I was amazed at how well it applied and I only needed one coat to make it completely opaque, when I find usually Barry M take about 2 or 3 coats normally. As it’s a Hi-Shine polish you don’t even need to use a top coat to make it shiny, but I still used my Seche Vite top coat as I hate waiting for my nails to dry. To then add a little bit of a festive look I used the limited edition polish for an accent nail, who doesn’t love a little bit of glitter? I’m actually quite impressed with the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine polishes, they apply fairly easily, don’t need top coats, and are very very shiny. There’s only 9 colours in the Gelly range, and I’m pretty tempted to go back and pick up some more. I have my eyes on ‘Blueberry’ and ‘Prickly Pear’, has anyone tried any other colours?
