Investing In My Hair

Recently my hair has been in bit of a naff state. Feeling dry, breaking off, and generally looking a bit damaged. I’m always picking up ‘drug store’ treatments for my hair in the hope that it will help, but find it never really gets me anywhere, so decided it was about time that I put some real investment into my hair, and bought some products that would really help.

First off I started with buying the Redken Extreme CAT Protein Reconstructing Treatment. One thing my hair dresser told me was that my hair needed more protein to help fix the damage, and to help it to grow stronger. I use this after I’ve shampooed my hair and leave it in for 3 minutes or so, and it really helps it to feel less knotty, and stronger. Because I’ve heard good things about Reken I decided to also buy the Redken Extreme Anti-Snap, which I put into my hair when it’s wet. I’m not too sure if it really helps with my split ends, but it makes my hair feel and look glossier, and generally look healthier. The Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique has quickly become one of my new favourite hair products since I tried it a few months ago. I used to always use a heat defense spray, but found it wasn’t giving my hair enough attention as a leave in cream does like this one. Not only does it protect my hair against heat, but it also acts like a leave in conditioner, helping to smooth my hair, and making it look glossy and shiny.

I wasn’t sure if my Redken Extreme CAT Protein Reconstructing Treatment would be enough of a protein treatment for my hair, so I also purchased the Joico K-Pak Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor for Damaged Hair. I tend to use this once a week as an intense treatment for my hair, leaving it in for as long as possible to help give some strength back into my hair. After I wash it out my hair feels absolutely amazing, and I can definitely feel it working for my hair. To stick with my theme of damaged hair treatments, I also bought the Bumble & Bumble Mending Shampoo and Conditioner. I’ve never tried Bumble & Bumble before so I was excited to try these out, especially as they said they can help repair, strengthen, add shine and protect. So far I’m getting on quite well with them, but I’m not too sure if I would repurchase, as the price is quite expensive for how little you get.

So far I’ve only been trying out these products for a few weeks, but I’ve seen a great improvement to the condition of my hair. I also treated my hair to a trip to the hairdressers, which has also made it feel a lot healthier! I’m hoping after a few more weeks my hair will be feeling a lot healthier and happier, and maybe I can work on growing it out again!
