February Goals

It’s been a while since I’ve done any monthly goals, in fact October was the last time I set any, and even then I failed pretty badly on them. So with a new year, and a new month, I thought it would be a good time to reset some goals for the month ahead, and hopefully I’ll managed to stick to it this time around.

Don’t run out of money
This is probably my main challenge this month. Since moving out into our own place money has been a little tighter than it used to be. We currently have a joint account where all our bills, mortgage payments and food shopping goes out of, but we keep finding that towards the end of each month we run out of money and keep borrowing off ourselves out of our savings, which defeats the point a little. After working out our budget and adjusting it slightly, I think we’ve finally got it sussed, and this month I’d like to see us not run out of money or borrow off ourselves!

Don’t buy unnecessary things
To also help with living in my new budgeting ways, this month I plan to not buy any unnecessary things. I usually find I spend my money on impulse purchases at tills in shops, or picking up food in supermarkets that we don’t really need, or buying lipstick that I really really don’t need. This month will be the month I conqueror my unnecessary spending!

Lose half a stone
I’ve been doing Slimming World for a while now, three months in fact, and so far I’ve lost 3.5lbs, oops. I joined before Christmas, where I had a lot of busy social events, and then gained a lot over Christmas itself. I’ve had another couple of bad weeks of gains, but this month I plan to fully stick to plan, and hopefully get my half a stone award before the end of the month!

Cut back on Diet Coke
Diet Coke is my addiction. Since I started working full time two years ago I’ve been taking a can of Diet Coke in for my lunch each day, and sometimes drinking a second in the afternoon, I am an addict. I know it’s not good for me, but every time I’ve tried to quit I have failed. This month I’m going to start trying to cut it out gradually, so that hopefully one day I won’t be as addicted to the stuff.

Have more ‘me time’
Something I’m terrible at is taking time out to look after myself. I’m often busy with my social life, running around everywhere at weekends to see different friends or my family, but I never really make much time for myself to just chill out and relax. Even if it’s just an hour a week to sit and read a book and do nothing, I need to make a bit more time for myself this month.

So that’s my goals for this month, hopefully I’ll make a much better go of these this time around! Have you set any goals for yourself for the month ahead?
