September Goals

Woah September, where did you crop up from? I guess I should now give up all hope of seeing a summer appearing now, but on the plus side it means autumn is popping up any day now. Bring on the days of hot chocolate, blankets and cosy evenings in.

Recently as each new month arrives I’ve been setting myself little goals that I’d like to achieve that month. Nothing huge, just little things I’d like to get done that month. Recently I’ve not been amazing at achieving them, so I thought I’d publish them on the blog, and hopefully having them public will help me get my butt into gear. So here’s what I’d like to achieve this month.

Go to the gym three times a week
I’m currently trying to get a little bit fitter, and have personal training twice a week, but I’m pretty terrible at getting to the gym the other five days a week. This month I’d like to get into a regular gym routine, and get to the gym at least one more time a week.

Finish my 5K mud run
At the end of September I’m running a 5K mud run with a few friends to raise money for Dementia UK. I’ve been training for this for a few months now, and so far can run 4K. I’m starting to really struggle with my training, but I’d really like to be able to run the 5K during my mud run.

Eat healthier
As well as trying to get fitter I’m also trying to lose some weight. So far I’ve not been doing very well with the food I eat, so this month I’d really like to give it a bit more effort on the healthy eating front.

Read two books
I used to be a big book reader, but lately I’ve not been reading as much as I’d like to. This month I’d really like to read two books, and hopefully get back into reading.

Cook 4 times a week
Since moving out I’ve realised I’m rubbish at cooking. So far we’ve been living off ready meals, and sauces from jars. I’m determined to learn to cook more, and from scratch, and this month I’d like to do this at least 4 times a week!

Start saving for a holiday
Recently Chris and I realised we’ve never been on holiday together, and we’ll have been together 5 years soon. This might seem a bit ridiculous, but we were together at uni where we were very poor, and since then we’ve been saving up to live together. Now the flat is sorted we’re talking about having a holiday. Funds are little tight these days, but if I start saving small amounts it will soon add up!

All of my goals seem rather reasonable, and I don’t see any reasons why I won’t be able to achieve any of these! I’ll check in again at the end of the month to let you know how I’ve got on!

Do you have anything you’d like to achieve in September? Do you set yourself goals?
