For those of you who don’t know me, or are new to my blog and haven’t seen my previous posts on mascara, well I’m addicted to the stuff. I’m always on a hunt for a new mascara that claims to give me longer lashes with more volume, basically I’m a sucker for the stuff. So when this Rimmel London Day 2 Night mascara turned up on my door step the other day I was over the moon! I’d won a competition on the Rimmel London website which I had entered months ago and completely forgot about, to win a full sized sample of their latest mascara. As I’d done this months ago I’d completely forgotten all about it! I’ve actually wanted to try out this mascara for so long as the idea of two different looks in a mascara has intrigued me for quite some time.
Rimmel describes it as ‘A multi-tasking, 2 in 1 defined length/intense volume mascara. Top Cap: Exceptionally defined and ultra-lengthened lashes. Bottom Cap: Thickens lashes with voluptuous, oversized volume. No Clumps’.
The basic idea behind this mascara is that you can wear the top cap ‘length’ for a basic day look with long lashes, and then add the bottom cap ‘volume’ to create a much more intense night time look. This mascara has made me curious for months on how one mascara can change the look of its mascara wand to achieve two different looks.
The top cap ‘length’ mascara wand
The Bottom Cap ‘Volume’ mascara wand
The two wands have different looks about them, the top cap ‘length”s wand is much longer and skinner, whilst the bottom cap ‘volume’ is much shorter and thicker. Both wands are simple to apply, there’s not much more fuss about it.
So the results?
Top Cap ‘Length’
Bottom Cap ‘Volume’
Top & Bottom Cap Together
First of all I love the length part of this mascara, it made my lashes super long! But silly me forgot to take a picture of my lashes normally to show you before I applied it. I’m not so keen on the volume part of the mascara on its own, I don’t feel like it did much to my lashes at all on its own. However when I tried the volume part on top of the length application, it gave my lashes a large boost of volume. So in my opinion if you want length and volume in your lashes then apply the volume to your lashes after you’ve done the length. I believe this mascara is around the £7.99 mark from Boots, and for a ‘drugstore’ mascara I think its very reasonably priced. As this was sent to me I didn’t purchase this myself, but when I run out (which will probably be soon – I use a lot of this!), I will definitely be repurchasing this!
I keep mentioning it on the blog recently, but I’m becoming a Lush ADDICT. It started off with a bath bomb here, and a bubble bar there, but now I want everything Lush sell. So when payday came around yesterday, I had a sneaky trip to Lush and went a bit mad, and came out…
A few weeks a go I was spending far too much time in Boots, looking at make up I didn’t need, when I came across the new Maybelline Color Drama lip crayons. I have hundreds of lipsticks, but of course I needed these. I stood for ages swatching away at all the shades, but one…
I’ve posted many times before about my hair, and about the bad condition I find it in. After years of dying it, and using heat on it, there are times where I find split ends, my hair feeling dry, and looking a little worse for wear. I’ve used many hair products over the years to…
I mentioned on the blog the other day about how I’ve been trying out organic skin care, and how the condition of my skin has been improving. In fact in the last couple of months I’ve become somewhat of a skin care junkie, putting all sorts of lotions and potions on my face. I think…
I’m not usually one to get sucked in to the sales after Christmas, but this year I was sucked into a couple of 50% off sales, one being from The Body Shop. I love The Body Shop products and find I always have a ‘back up stock’ of them. I originally wasn’t going to make…
Now that we’ve been thrown into the autumn and winter months I like to pick out darker colours for my nails. Gone are the light pastel shades to be replaced with darker reds, blues, and blacks. One of my favourite colours for the darker months is Models Own Thunder and Lightening. Normally I wouldn’t go…
