My mum is pretty special to me, not only is she a wonderful woman who bought me up, she’s helped me through some hard times, been there when I was struggling after uni to find a job and what I wanted to do. She helped me through an unpaid internship, and even helped my northern boyfriend to move down south and find a job, she’s pretty amazing.
18 Months ago mumma had a stroke, it was a pretty tough time, and of course even harder for mum. Now she’s starting to fully recover she’s starting to enjoy doing things she loves again, and can go out and socialise again. This year Boohoo got in touch to see if I wanted to do something to show just how special my mum was to me, and if I wanted to do something instead of giving the usual traditional gifts of flowers or chocolates for Mother’s Day this year, and wanted to treat her to something that will make her look and feel fantastic, a new dress.
Boohoo isn’t really a brand me or mum have ordered from before, but their website is full of beautiful clothes, and I was sure there would be something that would make my mum feel as fantastic as she is. We both had the option to pick anything we liked from the site, as long as they were both from the same category. And as we both love a good excuse for a fancy new frock, both picked a new dress to show off.
For my dress I ordered the Plus Paige Checked Shift Dress in a size 24. I did originally order it in my usual size 20, however it came up really small on me so I reordered a size 24. For me it still feels a little tight, especially around my stomach. Typically I don’t tend to pick shift style dresses, I’d usually go for a skater style like my mum, but I found Boohoo’s plus size dress offerings a little limited for the styles I tend to go for. Like mum I wore mine with a pair of leggings and boots, and I think this dress would look pretty cute with a cardigan or leather jacket.
