A Spot Of Cream Tea

I love cream teas, in fact I always find an excuse to stop at cute little coffee shops to enjoy a pot of tea and a warm scone. There’s just nothing nicer than them. Since I’ve moved house there’s no where really around here where I can get my scone fix, so I was happy when I received a hamper full of delicious cream tea treats.

Not only was there scones complete with jam and clotted cream, but tea, fudge, the most amazing strawberry and cream biscuits, and two bottles of delicious cider. There was far too much for me to enjoy on my own, although I’d give it a good try, so I thought I’d be nice and let Chris have some too.

As it was a nice sunny Saturday afternoon we decided to enjoy our cream teas out on the balcony. We had bit of an argument discussion about whether it was cream on first then jam, or the other way round. Either way it was delicious.

Jeff even tried to beg us for some. No scones for you Jeff.

While we tucked into our scones, Chris and I started reminiscing about our holiday last year to Devon where we pretty much spent the whole week walking around and having various cream teas! It wasn’t a huge holiday, but it was such a lovely week away, and the weather was gorgeous. We stayed in this cute converted barn, and that had the most lovely views over devon from the garden. I never really thought much about holidaying in the UK, as I always imagined holidays far away somewhere on a hot beach, but we actually had the best time.

We’ve been thinking about having another staycation in Devon next year, as there’s just so much more we want to explore. In fact Parkdean are holding a competition until the 4th September for a chance to win a holiday to Devon or Cornwall by guessing which thing belongs to which county. I’ve been trying to guess correctly for ages, but I can only manage to get 4 out of 10 each time…. perhaps it’s a sign I need to go on another holiday to Devon..
